As the market requirements for the charging capacity of electric vehicles continue to increase, high-power fast charging has now become one of the options for the development of electric vehicle companies, which also means that the utilization rate of liquid-cooled high-power charging cables will be greatly improved. We can now also see more and more liquid cooled cables on the market appearing in major charging stations. Liquid-cooled cables are divided into two types: oil-cooled cables and water-cooled cables.
Among them, the biggest difference is the difference in the cooling medium, oil cooling refers to the use of heat transfer medium oil to dissipate heat. Water cooling uses water as a heat transfer medium to dissipate heat. Oil-cooled and water-cooled cables are two commonly used structural cables for liquid-cooled cables, which have their own different applications and characteristics. Which one you choose depends on actual demand. So what is the difference between the structure of the liquid-cooled cable and the oil-cooled cable?
The cooling medium is different, and the corresponding liquid cooling cable structure is also different. The liquid cooling cable structure of the water refrigerant medium is that the liquid cooling pipe is placed separately next to the DC /DC- wire (the cooling pipe is outside the wire) to take away the heat of the wire. The liquid cooling cable structure of the insulating oil medium is that the conductor is placed in the coolant to dissipate heat, and the coolant is wrapped around the bare conductor.
